About SpinGear
SpinGear (スピンギア) is a Tokyo-based yoyo specialty retailer and original equipment manufacturer founded and operated by Takahiko “Taka” Hasegawa, a Japanese National Yo-Yo Master and former world-class 4A (off-string) player. The company operates a physical store in Tokyo as well as an international e-commerce site at spingear.jp, selling products from manufacturers around the world.
Beyond retail, SpinGear designs and produces its own line of original yoyos under the SpinGear name, spanning beginner wooden and plastic models through intermediate and competition-level aluminum throws. The brand is best known for developing the SpinGadget — an affordable beginner polycarbonate yoyo that launched in December 2021 and spawned a large family of variants — and its Metal SpinGadget line aimed at intermediate players.
SpinGear also founded and operates the 66percent sub-brand (often written as 66%), which since 2017 has produced officially licensed miniaturized versions of iconic yoyos from other manufacturers (Duncan, YoYoFactory, YoYoFactory/Evan Nagao), machined to approximately 66% of their original scale entirely in Katsushika-ku, Tokyo. These micro-throws, typically around 37–38mm in diameter, are made in very limited quantities from stainless steel or aluminum and have developed a dedicated collector following.
SpinGear has collaborated with multiple brands including MagicYoYo (Katana M06, Katana 2), One Drop YoYos (American Metal SpinGadget), and video game publisher Arc System Works (Guilty Gear -STRIVE- Bridget Yo-Yo).
