About Brandon Vu

Brandon Vu (born January 2, 1997, Sydney, Australia) is a three-time Australian National Yoyo Champion (2014, 2015, 2023), competitive 1A player, and co-founder of OFFSET YoYo. He began posting yoyo tutorials to YouTube in September 2010, building a channel that now exceeds 1.4 million subscribers. In 2014 he claimed his first national title and appeared on Channel 9’s Today Show as the reigning champion, earning a second title in 2015.

After a competitive gap, Vu rebuilt his contest approach heading into the 2023 season — redesigning his yoyo, trickset, and competitive strategy. The result was the Outlier+, a bi-metal with a 50mm catch zone built to improve accuracy and consistency under pressure. He used it to win the 2023 Australian Nationals, take first place in the International Division at the US National Yoyo Contest, win the 1A Open at Czech Nationals, and reach the 1A final at the World Yoyo Contest (19th, WYYC 2023 Osaka) — his first Worlds final appearance.

As OFFSET’s co-founder and primary public face, Vu has designed approximately thirteen yoyo models in collaboration with designer Jeffrey Pang — spanning polycarbonate entry-level throws, competition aluminum monometals, high-end bimetals, and limited titanium runs. His design philosophy centers on progressive width: the Outlier series grew from 50mm to 60mm across generations, reflecting his belief that a wider catch zone is the most direct competitive advantage in modern 1A play.
