The Variant was OFFSET’s first product — a high-performance plastic conceived after founder Brandon Vu noticed a gap in the market: plastics were either slow and stable or fast and unstable, never both. After prototyping began in 2017 with Jeffrey Pang (Luftverk founder) at MagicYoYo’s factory, the design went through roughly four revisions before landing on something that could genuinely compete with metals. It launched alongside OFFSET in 2020 and became the brand’s entry point for players who wanted competition-grade performance without the aluminum price tag.
