Ronin

The Ronin was meant to be sponsored player Ed Haponik’s signature yoyo. There were approximately 10 prototypes made. Due to Throw Down shutting down the yoyo never made it to the production stage.

Shuriken

The Shuriken was Throw Down’s second aluminum yo-yo. It was an undersized yoyo. The gap was very large for it’s size, so they shipped with thick Dif-E-Yo pads. According to the YoYoWiki, “the yo-yo was coated in manganese phosphate and then clear coated.” 168 Shuriken’s were in the production run. The prototypes had longer spikes.

Wooden Luchador

The wooden Luchador was released in 2008. There were two different models produced. The first was a fixed axle and the second model had a C bearing with an adjustable gap. Both models were made of Rosewood.

Luchador

The Luchador was Throw Down’s first release, releasing in February 2007. The Luchador had 3 runs of about 324 yoyos total (100 first production, 24 polished, 200 second production). The first run the grey side is darker with the Luchador cup engraving only on the grey half. The second release was a raw polished edition, with only 24 produced. On the second batch, the grey half is lighter and the Luchador engraving in the cup in on the grey and blue half and the logos on the outside of the yoyo are a bit larger. The Luchador was an extreme shape for the time, it even included a disclaimer absolving the maker from any injury or death incurred from its use. There were 5 prototypes made originally, which were slightly heavier at 67g.

Theodore

Theodore released in three editions: Players Edition, Copper plated and Dirty Copper. They each shipped with minimal packaging, no fancy box like Walter, to encourage them to be played and not collected. Spencer has an archived Theodore on his site, you can read more about it here.

Prototypes

There were two prototypes of Theodore. The first being dramatically different than the final edition. The first prototypes were machined by OneDrop. Photos below.

Players Edition

The Players Edition came in a black Type III hardcoat. There were two other colors produced, but they were not made available to the general public, those colors were Blue and Grey. The Players edition released May 5, 2018 and sold for $150.

Copper Edition

Released January 2022. Copper plated Theodore. Original price was $160.

Dirty Copper Theo

Spencer “aged” a few Copper Theodore’s to give them patina, each was unique. Original price was $200.

Plated Versions

These were test plated versions of Theodore, only the copper version (as of 2022) has been released. From the top left clockwise: Silver plated, Copper plated, Gold plated, tin plated.
