Parallel

From Motion:

“This is Parallel Motion.

Parallel is the final installment in a series of Perpetual-inspired yoyos. We give credit to proto team member Hunter Cuniff for his idea to create a “mini” Perpetual. The idea was planted almost immediately after Perpetual prototypes arrived, and it took a long time to finally create it. But it was well worth the wait.

Parallel is Motion’s first D bearing yoyo. The D bearing is the perfect size for the undersized specs this yoyo features. While we don’t consider this yoyo a “mini” at 52mm diameter, it is definitely undersized. The H shape, incredible boundary-pushing weight distribution (the body weighs only 8.45 grams per half!), and the overall light weight (less than 61g), make this yoyo perform astoundingly for its size.

Undersized yoyos often suffer from being heavy on the string. Not the case here. The yoyo feels natural, like a full-size, and it spins a long time. This is a yoyo you can truly throw in your pocket and, with it, do any trick. Incredible stability, speed, and compactness. It handles 5A, tech tricks, slacks, rejections, whips, all the things, with ease. Our customers have used it in a variety of awesome ways.

Parallel was available for pre-order, as well as Yoyo Expert, Yoyosam, and YoyoLoco retailers.”

Linear

From Motion:

“Say hello to Linear Motion

The YoYo that was never in the plan. When Motion was first started, I had only envisioned using bimetal yo-yos for all of our lineup, this was met with quite a few comments internally and externally from members of the community. James Underwood was one of the largest pushers to get a mono metal made and, being the stubborn person I can be, I kept refusing.  It was in discussions within the proto team that we finally determined we were going to move forward on a monometal yoyo, under one condition: it couldn’t be a compromise.

The ultimate goal of Motion is to always bring a top quality product into the customers’ hands, and I didn’t want to just make a mono because it can be made cheaper. So to the drawing board David and I went, and we quickly found that designing a mono can be very challenging. We started at the place where we felt like we should: on our flagship YoYo, Perpetual. Using perpetual as a starting point, we were able to get a firm base from which to develop the design. What ensued exceeded our expectations, and upon first throw we knew that we hit the mark.

So why Perpetual as the basis for the mono?

Perpetual is the YoYo that we feel best represents our brand. It’s a blend of everything Motion set out to be. So with this being taken into consideration, what better platform to build on?

Perpetual is still one of our favorite yo-yos that we have done, being insanely stable and insanely powerful, we weren’t sure how much of this we could dial in without the rims to push that weight toward the outside. What you will find is a very thick outer wall that mimics the weight of having a bi-metal rim. The cut around the top edge of the YoYo is there to resemble the cut-back on perpetuals rim, one of its defining visual characteristics.

Aesthetically, we pushed this YoYo to the extreme; each angle just blasts your eyes with elegance and beauty with every single strategically placed cut. The cuts not only help us control weight distribution but also present an interesting tactile and visually pleasing experience.

One design characteristic you will notice is the double rim around our sunken dome which transplants some weight to the center to help balance, but also pops out at you aesthetically.

We hope you can see that the time and attention put into this design was just as extreme as any of our bimetal offerings. And we hope this YoYo not only reaches our existing market, but allows more people an entrypoint into our brand. You will be getting the full Motion experience but not at the higher price of a bi-metal offering.

This is Motion”

Accelerated

From Motion:

“Introducing our next model in the Motion Lineup – Accelerated (Motion)

All three of the models before this were slightly “oversized” by what I would consider “normal” standards. We are taking a dive into a YoYo that is a bit more undersized in nature. The organic nature of this bell shaped YoYo helps with the comfort aspect of throwing.

Immediately you will recognize some of the characteristics that you will find in all the Motion lineup, from the sunken dome, to some of the most gorgeous cuts you will ever see on a YoYo.

Our value promise has always been not only do you get a YoYo that preforms well above its value, but will also look the part. Motion has offered yo-yos with unique design characteristics on every release, one of the most unique we have done was the rim design on Centrifugal, which has been reengineered on this YoYo.

As always only the best materials are used: 7068 aluminum body with stainless steel rims. This combination of premium materials and limit-pushing design gives you a presence on the string unlike anything you have played previously. We truly believe this fills a niche that hasn’t been tapped.

@hesperaux and I were chatting one evening, talking about YoYo design and what we would like in a new throw. We discussed the existing Motion lineup and we felt as if there was a gap in our lineup that Accelerated would fill. @hesperaux and I went over the CAD many times trying to tweak and design it. The goal: that it would not only play exponentially better than it looks but also look amazing doing it.

One design decision was made by @gaitesk13. He felt as if we should add some flair to the rims and create a “bump” on the edge that is both for aesthetic and design purposes for weight distribution. He was right, it was the right move. This design feature makes the yoyo feel slightly smaller but play bigger. It’s one of the unique things about this design that we love.

The collective effort of all of my proto team has lead to one of our favorite designs to come out of the Motion shop.

The body cuts have been brought back, the unique rim has been revamped, and an updated, more unique design for the dome which will further set our brand apart.

We feel like once again we have set the bar higher for existing products and we encourage you to experience what the difference is – this is Motion.

So don’t let the specs fool you, this YoYo is a performer, it’s wide stance and undersized body play like a full sized yoyo. The spin time is something that I personally like to focus on, and this one is no slouch, it is designed to spin longer than any of our current lineup, one could say it has been “accelerated” from our other models.

We’ve also been pushing the limits of machining. @fpm_yoyomanufacture has been an amazing partner, allowing us to confidently shrink the wall thickness and create elaborate and beautiful stainless steel ring profiles not usually seen with these materials. The wall thickness of accelerated is about twice as thin as previous designs, but the ss rings work together with the body to create a durable and powerful design. One of the motion design goals is to push limits and advance yoyo design norms.

The YoYo loves to fly through each combo, with a strong presence on the string. Regens are a breeze and brings the YoYo back to life after short or long combos. At no time are you left wanting any more power. Even when the YoYo becomes exhausted, it still has energy to roll back to your hand in a snap.

Stability and long spin times were the goal here, and we far exceeded anything that we could have imagined.”

Kinetic

From Motion:

“After what we would consider two successful yoyo releases we are super stoked to dive even deeper into the “performance aspect” of throwing. Like the last two models we released, you will be more than pleased with the aesthetic and performance of this yoyo.

Immediately recognizable is the sunken dome that we intend to carry through our product line. We integrated very distinctive grooves to imitate a visual of sound waves moving across the cup of the yoyo.

One thing we always want to offer is a unique experience with each yoyo. You will find a really exclusive rim design that not only visually catches your eye, but also pushes the limits once again on molding stainless steel onto a 7068 aluminum body.

So why a V shape?

To be completely honest – we wanted a yoyo that was a no compromise, true V. It doesn’t seem to be common anymore for us to see a straight V yoyo come out of any of the shops. We are unsure exactly what the reasoning is behind that considering that we feel as if you can’t get this much performance out of any other shape.

The design we went for here is to pack in as much performance as we could. We kept the weight low, the power high, and the weight distribution highly pushed to the outer rims. The V shape allows for a gradual ramp up of weight across the body of the yoyo, while being strategic in the amount of material we leave between the catch zone and the outer rim.

You will find that Kinetic will rival any existing YoYo that finds itself in the performance category. Once again we raise the bar – this is Motion. “

Centrifugal

From Motion:

“Our second installment – Centrifugal (motion). Continuing off of the success of our flagship yoyo, Perpetual (motion), we have stayed true to what we said we would do: never compromise aesthetics for performance, and vice versa.

In designing this yoyo we decided that “less is more.” We wanted a very smooth body with minimal cuts. From each angle you will be able to see the calculated and distinct cuts we wanted on this yoyo.

We aren’t the first, or only company to use a dome in the cup, but we feel like this is a design aspect that truly catches your eye. Lastly something very unique to our yoyo is, once again, the rims. The large W shape has a very pronounced inverted M shape on the outer surface, which not only strengthens the SS rim and helps to keep from bending, but it also retains a “slimmer” feel in the hand without compromising any of the weight used to push on the outermost part of the yoyo.

We really think through each design to not only appeal to serious players, but to also give a timeless piece you could display on your shelf.

This is Motion.”
