Freshthings Type X Full Metal

Freshthings Type X Full Metal Folio 2460

History

The Freshthings Type X Full Metal represents a significant departure from every Coca-Cola promotional yoyo that preceded it. All prior models — from the 1958 Duncan Sprite Boy through the Matsui reissues and the plastic Freshthings lineup — used plastic or polycarbonate construction. The Type X is the first all-metal Coca-Cola yoyo, machined from 6061 aluminum with the Coca-Cola logo engraved directly into the body.

At approximately 65–70 grams and 53.5–57mm diameter with 40mm width, the Type X targets the performance yoyo market rather than the collectible novelty segment. The engraved logo treatment rather than a printed or side-cap-mounted logo speaks to a collector-grade finishing approach. Available in silver finish.

The Type X effectively completes the arc of the Coca-Cola yoyo from its origins as a promotional giveaway made of molded plastic to a precision-machined metal instrument carrying the same brand — 65 years of production history condensed into a single premium product.
