About Auldey
Auldey Toys was founded in December 1993 by Cai Dongqing in Chenghai, Shantou, Guangdong, China — the region known as “China Toy and Gift City.” The company initially rose to dominance by producing and selling unlicensed copies of Tamiya Mini 4WD cars, establishing a massive distribution network across China and Southeast Asia. In 1999, capitalizing on the Hyper Yo-Yo craze sweeping East Asia, Auldey launched its “Super Yo-Yo” (超级悠悠) line — predominantly clones of Yomega and Bandai/Duncan models — bringing competition-style yo-yos to the Chinese mass market at accessible price points.
In 2004 Auldey founded Alpha Animation Co., Ltd. to produce animated content promoting its toys. In 2006 the company launched the live-action TV franchise Blazing Teens (火力少年王), tying a generation of branded yo-yo products directly to an aspirational TV narrative. This strategy proved transformative: Blazing Teens aired across China and expanded to South Korea, the Philippines, Malaysia, and other Southeast Asian markets by 2007, making “Audi” (Auldey’s Japanese market name) a household name for competitive yo-yoing throughout Asia. The company simultaneously upgraded from clone production to original engineering, sponsoring Chinese champion Yicheng Luo starting in 2008 — who used the Auldey L3 to place 4th at the 2008 World Yo-Yo Contest, the best finish ever at that time for a Chinese player.
Through the 2010s Auldey developed a series of high-performance metal throws endorsed by international champions, most notably 2011 World Champion Marcus Koh (Singapore), whose Ares Star, Magnum, and Equilibrium signature models were sold globally through specialist retailers. The company also produced notable collaborations with YOYOFFICER (Orbis, 2015) and Turning Point of Japan (Positron, 2014). Auldey hosted the 2018 World Yo-Yo Contest in Shanghai and produced commemorative souvenir yo-yos. Into the 2020s the brand continues releasing modern competition models and licensed collaborations, including a 2024 partnership with miHoYo for Honkai Impact 3rd merchandise. With the 2007 corporate restructuring into Alpha Group, Auldey’s yo-yo division operates alongside animation, RC vehicles, and licensed character products under the umbrella of China’s largest integrated toy-entertainment conglomerate.
