The Albatross is G2’s very first release and the foundation on which the entire brand was built. Designed by Jacob Gross and Brett Grimes, it debuted in early 2012 to extraordinary acclaim. YoYoSkills’ Dr. Yo-Yo (Chris Allen) described it as “one of the best flagship yo-yos I have ever had the pleasure of testing, but one of the best yo-yos I have ever tested period.” The Albatross features a rounded V-shape profile with a clever split weight ring design — an equal amount of weight placed at both the rim and the halfway point. The slightly raised hub lifts the core, effectively widening the gap and catch zone. It came with a One Drop 10-Ball bearing and clear flowable silicone response. The success of the Albatross secured G2’s reputation immediately; they went on to win YoYoSkills’ New Manufacturer of the Year at the end of their debut year.
