Roots was the first Burgeon Yo-Yos model and the foundation of Mike Montgomery’s 2017 maker project. Each was a handmade, one-piece wooden fixed-axle yo-yo intended for responsive play, including modern kickflip and stall-oriented fixed-axle tricks.
Work began in January 2017, with orders, samples, giveaways, and custom woodburned versions documented through spring and summer. Exact dimensions, weight, wood species, and launch price have not been recovered.
