About
The Pixel Bearing is a Size C replacement bearing developed through an ongoing collaboration between Caribou Lodge Yo-Yo Works (CLYW) and iYoYo, announced June 19, 2016. Conceived by Dave Geigle of iYoYo and brought to life with CLYW’s Chris Mikulin, the bearing features eight stepped sections descending from the sidewalls toward the center — a profile that evokes the chunky geometry of 8-bit pixel art, giving the bearing its name (the 8 steps also reference “8-bit”). The design is a hybrid between a concave and a stepped bearing, providing centering action while remaining less steep than a traditional Konkave. Pixel Bearings ship lightly lubed from the factory; CLYW and iYoYo recommend breaking them in through play rather than immediately cleaning them. Priced at $11.99, they positioned as a premium centering alternative at a competitive price point. Note: some batches exhibited manufacturing inconsistencies; quality varied across production runs.
