About Remy Baskin

Remy Baskin is a 1A yo-yo competitor and brand founder from Northampton, Massachusetts. He was introduced to the hobby around age 10 through friends and a local club at A2Z Science & Learning Toy Store in Northampton, where he received his first team yo-yo — a special-edition YoyoJam Kickside. He began competing seriously around 2016 – 2017, inspired by the Scales Collective, a performance-focused group in the New England scene. An alumnus of the self-directed learning program North Star, he later joined Team Duncan (2017 – 2019), representing the brand at regional and state competitions throughout the Northeast.

After joining SF Yoyos around 2019, Baskin learned CAD modeling as part of his sponsorship and began prototyping what would become the Anima. When SF paused operations he continued independently, eventually founding Dis in 2023 and releasing the Anima as its debut product — a 51.1 mm / 47.5 mm / 66.5 g 6061-aluminum throw whose packaging features woodcut artwork by Leonard Baskin. He also co-designed the Good Life Pharaoh alongside Tony Sec and player Filip David, handling prototype development and material selection.

On the contest circuit Baskin has placed consistently at major U.S. regional events, including a triple sweep of 1A, 2A, and 3A at the 2018 Massachusetts States — a result Duncan Toys called “one of the greatest regional and state two-minute freestyles of 2018.” He won the 2020 Pacific Northwest Regionals, finished 4th at the 2023 U.S. Nationals, and reached the 2025 WYYC semifinal in Prague (29th). He remains active as of 2026.
