Originally called the “Outrageous Yo” at launch, the Fireball was renamed and refined by 1992. It was the first commercially available yo-yo with a plastic transaxle (Delrin spool bearing), replacing the fixed axle and dramatically extending spin time. The Fireball allowed players to learn string tricks that were impossible on fixed-axle designs and defined a generation of intermediate play. It remains one of the best-selling yo-yos ever made and continues in production.
