History / About
Released in December 1998 through Bandai’s Hyper Yo-Yo line in Japan, the Hyper Russell Professional was a tie-in with the anime series Chousoku Spinner (Super Yo-Yo). Made in Korea by Russell, it used translucent colored polycarbonate plastic — distinguishing it visually from the opaque Super — and was the heavier of the two Hyper Russell models at approximately 53 grams. It appeared in anime flashbacks depicting the character “Nakamura Meijin’s” past. Packaged in a Japanese bubble card, complete examples are now rare in the collector market.
