Coca-Cola Yo-Yo Classic

Coca-Cola Yo-Yo Classic Folio 2480

History

In 2010, Japanese company Matsui Gaming Machine (operating as Yo-Yo Store Rewind) revived the Coca-Cola yoyo license to produce a modern homage to the 1980s Australian and Japanese yoyo campaigns. The result was the Coca-Cola Yo-Yo Classic — a ball-bearing-equipped modern yoyo in Georgia Green polycarbonate, the color of the classic Coca-Cola glass bottle.

The Classic featured two swappable vintage-style side caps in different Coca-Cola logo treatments, allowing collectors to mix and match presentations. Packaging was designed as a blister pack shaped like a Coca-Cola bottle — an attention-to-detail that positioned this as a collectible as much as a performance yoyo. The package included three red strings.

At 46.2 grams and 55.3mm diameter, the Classic is lighter and smaller than its vintage predecessors, reflecting modern yoyo design sensibilities. The ball bearing replaced the fixed wooden axle of the original Russell models, making it compatible with contemporary playing styles. The L-size bearing well was documented as compatible with KonKave and similar aftermarket bearings.
