Modern rebuild of the Axis EX!
Released September 5, 2026, EX! 2 is Hollywood Modern Yoyos’ first bi-metal yo-yo. The company developed it with Axis founder and original EX! designer James Reed, preserving the earlier model’s character while revising its width, hub, and weight distribution for modern competition play.
The design moves from the original inner-ring construction to stainless-steel outer rims on a 7075 aluminum body. An undercut beneath the rims concentrates mass near the edge for stability. The entire exterior, including the rims, is bead blasted for lower friction during hand-contact tricks, while the gap interior is polished to reduce string friction.
The stock 4.45mm gap can be widened with either or both included 0.075mm stainless-steel shims, producing 4.525mm or 4.60mm configurations. EX! 2 ships with a Size C bearing and Clear Shore 60 Hollywood Pads. Its launch price was $109.99 USD.
