About the Northstar
The Northstar was released as a tribute to Jensen Kimmitt’s 2010 World Yo-Yo Contest championship. It is a plastic yo-yo with a metal bearing seat and precision-engineered metal weight rings embedded in the outer rim, enabling spin times and stability competitive with full-metal throws at a fraction of the price. At 71.35g it is intentionally heavier than most metals, adding momentum to long trick sequences. The design was groundbreaking in proving that plastic construction could match metal performance with the right weighting. Current production includes fingerspin-capable versions with a special FS cap insert. Available in multiple colorways including Orange Marble, Black Gold, Galaxy, and Blue Marble at $24.99. Kimmitt’s original 2010–2011 Northstars are highly collectible.
