About the Amarok
The Amarok is the debut yo-yo from Wolf Yoyo Works, released in mid-2019. It holds the distinction of being the first yo-yo ever to use PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene, or Teflon) fingerspin cups. By bonding Teflon bowls to an anodized aluminium body, founder Jack Eastwood achieved a design that combined the stability and spin time of a metal yo-yo with the dramatically reduced fingertip friction that PTFE provides — enabling longer, more controlled fingerspin tricks.
The shape was refined through a series of 3D-printed prototypes before moving to production, a process Eastwood estimated reduced development costs by roughly 9,900% compared to commissioning manufacturer prototypes. Manufacturing tolerances were held to 0.0002" to ensure vibration-free play at high RPM.
The Amarok shipped in six color combinations: three anodized aluminum colorways (body) paired with either black or white PTFE cups. This pairing approach doubled the perceived variety without adding significant per-unit production cost.
