The Weekend launched alongside the Joyride and First Base at the 2015 World Yo-Yo Contest, making Recess an immediately credible brand across all price tiers. The Weekend uses a 7075 aluminum body with outer stainless steel rims — both materials chosen for strength and durability. Contrary to what the materials might suggest, the Weekend has a surprisingly soft play feel. The stainless rims provide serious rim weighting and improved spin, but the 7075 body keeps overall weight measured and the spin smooth. In Colin Beckford’s 2015 Buyer’s Guide, the Weekend rated 9.5/10 — best overall quality and speed. The Vacation (2016) served as its spiritual sibling, offering a harder, more crisp feel as a direct counterpoint.
