About the Paradox
The Paradox was conceived alongside the Riddle as one of Justin Bui’s earliest CAD designs, and was brought to production after the Riddle sold out in early 2017. Where the Riddle was mid-sized and H-shaped, the Paradox pushed in the opposite direction: a small-diameter throw with chunky rims and a simple cup, intended to be genuinely light and floaty rather than the dense-feeling compact yoyos common at the time.
At 52mm diameter and just 58g, the Paradox achieved a distinctly airy character on the string — quick-moving and responsive to directional changes without sacrificing spin time. The straightforward cup and rounded profile make it approachable, and the rim-heavy weight distribution keeps it stable despite its reduced size and mass.
The Paradox was released in April 2017 through Unspoken’s Big Cartel store. A later collaboration colorway with Skully was also produced.
