About the Decoy
The Decoy is a bimetal collaboration between 2SickYoYos and Unspoken Project, released October 31, 2018 through YoYoExpert. The project was over six months in the making, beginning in January 2018, and sought to merge the signature design philosophies of both companies into a single throw.
2SickYoYos’s contribution was their proven sandwiched bimetal ring construction — stainless steel rings bonded within the aluminum body — a method that had appeared on all their previous bimetal models but always with flat rims. For the Decoy, Unspoken introduced a faceted rim treatment, a design element seen on the Paradox and Murmur, creating an angled edge that is distinctive visually and provides a different grind surface character.
The profile is a clean V-shape with smoothed edges for comfort, an inner lip characteristic of 2Sick designs, a simple dome hub, and concentric stepped lines in the cup. Weight is distributed heavily to the rims, producing a powerful and stable spin while maintaining the overall lightweight feel 2Sick is known for.
