The Tropic Alien is the signature model of Zafran Aqil, two-time Malaysian National Champion and Recess team member. The curved H-shape profile gives it a comfortable feel in hand and powerful string presence. What makes the Tropic Alien stand out beyond specs is the story behind its artwork: Zafran worked with his friend Diane Tahir to design an alien character named “Mamood,” depicted wearing a sarung (traditional Malay garment) and an Asian farming hat. Zafran’s stated desire was to bring his culture wherever his passion for yo-yoing takes him. Reviewers noted the organic/V-shape hybrid character makes it an excellent all-rounder — competitive-level stability and spin time in a shape that also excels at creative content.
