About
The Turbo-Yo is the pre-production bearing prototype that preceded the Silver Bullet 2, produced in September 1990. Only 39 units were made. At $100 apiece, it came with spare bearings, adjusting screws, optional weight rings, cotton strings, and a string gap tool.
During testing, Dr. Kuhn himself performed 102 consecutive Around the Worlds with a rubber-ring-equipped Turbo-Yo. The design was refined into the Silver Bullet 2 just two months later. The Turbo-Yo is the zero-to-one moment for all bearing metal yo-yos: the first time a ball bearing was fitted to an all-metal throw in any form.
