About
The Samurai was SuperYo’s flagship premium model, released in 1999 at $130–$180 USD. CNC-machined from aluminum to a diamond finish with halves toleranced to ±0.0005″, it featured a SatinGlide ceramic bearing — one of the first production yo-yos to ship with a ceramic bearing. The redesigned IntelliGap axle was described as “2.1.0” construction: two halves, one bearing, zero loose parts.
The first run was limited to 1,000 units, each with Samurai markings and an individual serial number. At release, the Samurai held a documented sleep record of twelve minutes and two seconds, competing directly with the ProYo Cold Fusion and Tom Kuhn SB-2 at the top end of the performance market.
