About
The Spyder was SPYY’s foray into undersized design, debuting at the 2007 World Yo-Yo Contest. At 49.5mm diameter, it was compact, but SPYY gave it a 41.5mm width — unusually wide for a sub-50mm yo-yo — to maintain a large catch zone. It used a Size D Japanese EZO bearing and recessed Dif Pad response. The Spyder was released in black and in a “Super Hero Edition” red/blue colorway. It remained the company’s undersized flagship until the Spyder 2 in 2012.
