Folio 3074

History / About

The Masamune was Sengoku’s second release, announced November 2015 at $228 USD. Named after the legendary Japanese swordsmith Masamune, it used a then-novel material called Alumigo Hard — a high-tech alloy described as comparable to or better than steel in strength while remaining more machinable and affordable than titanium. The stainless steel rings were installed using nitrogen cooling and weigh more than 50% of the aluminum body weight, creating extreme rim weighting in a 55mm diameter profile.
