About the melatonin
The melatonin is ilinx Toys’ first major production release, launched in March 2022. Founder Ross Levine drew design inspiration from the hormone melatonin and its sedative, soft effects. The rims pillow outward gently and the hub curves flow like a billowed sheet, giving the yoyo a smooth, organic silhouette. At 54.5 mm diameter and 39.8 mm width it sits noticeably slimmer than a full-size competition throw, yet the weight distribution and gap keep it fully trick-capable.
Levine cited the YYJ Speeder 2 and Recreational Revolution No. 9 as design references, incorporating grind-friendly surfaces and enough catch-zone width for string-intensive play. The melatonin ships with a Size C CenterTrac bearing and ilinx’s own 19mm slim mouse-pad response. It was sold through YoYoSam and YoYoExpert in Clear, Clear/Red, and Red colorways. The melatonin is best enjoyed with a glass of warm milk.
