History
The Medalist line was distributed by Strombeck (Strombecker) Mfg. Co. of Moline, Illinois, in the mid-1960s after Duncan’s bankruptcy. The Yo-Yo Museum says the Medalist line was identical in shape and profile to earlier Duncan models, differing in name, stamp and colors. The line sold the Cadet for 49 cents, the Trickmaster for 79 cents and the Trophy for $1; the Trophy was plastic and the other two wood. The Cadet (No. 1044) corresponds to the Duncan Beginner, with bi-colored halves. The Museum dates its carded example to 1967-1968.
