Dyna-Glo Folio 3999

History / About

Dyna-Glo was made by L.H. Knibb Co. of Chicago; the company was founded by inventor Leroy Hayes Knibb, and the YoYo Wiki lists the Dyna-Glo as the only model known to survive. GlowYoYo.com says it is believed to be one of the world’s first glow-in-the-dark yo-yos, though the Corey Games Glo-Yo may have reached market up to five years earlier. The packaging read “Glows Red by Day, Blue by Night” and claimed it was “dynamically powered and balanced with steel rings for high speeds”; it sold for 49 cents. GlowYoYo.com dates it to 1952 and measures 57.4 mm diameter, 32.8 mm width and 43.9 g. The Yo-Yo Museum, which lists it as the Knibb Dyna-Glo Top, shows a plastic body with metal axle and separate glow sections embedded in the outer shell, in pink, glow, orange and blue; the museum is unsure of the date and gives 1958.
