About the Drop 2 3D
Released in 2024, the Drop 2 3D is the improved second generation of ilinx Toys’ (Hollywood Modern Yoyos’) 3D-printed yoyo line. Ross Levine addressed every structural weakness of the original 2022 Drop: the plastic is now PETG—significantly stronger than PLA, capable of surviving multiple concrete impacts without chipping or peeling—and the bearing seat is now precision-machined stainless steel rather than plastic, eliminating the warping problems found on the original.
Performance was also pushed further. The Drop 2 stretches to 60mm width, a first for the Hollywood Modern Yoyos lineup, with a catch zone engineered specifically for horizontals, neck tricks, and body tricks that demand space and stability. The hub retains the flat fingerspin surface, talon grind valley, and central pull-start dimple from the original. The Drop 2 3D is available through the modernyoyos.com store at $30.00 USD in Pink, Teal, and Blue colorways. Hollywood response pads are included.
