History / About

Gropper Mfg. Co. of Brooklyn, New York made yo-yos and tops from the 1950s into the 1960s, and its one yo-yo, the Up-N-Down, was produced in various versions. The Yo-Yo Museum shows a rarer decal-logo version (dated 1950, reddish-pink and blue-with-red-stripe examples) and a more common imprinted-logo version (dated 1955, green), all three-piece wood with a painted finish and fixed gap, 2.25 inches in diameter. The museum notes decal logos crack and wear off with play and that all Groppers are harder-to-find collectibles.
