The Torrent is General-Yo’s first-ever release, launched in December 2008. Ernie Kaiser designed it before he could even perform modern string tricks — the result is a rounded, organic-profile throw built from first principles. Only about 60 units made it through Ernie’s quality inspection on the first run, as he rejected the majority for vibe. That uncompromising standard became the defining trait of the General-Yo brand.
The Torrent uses Born Crucial Ghost Pads on the original run and transitions to Hat-Pad response on subsequent runs. It remained in production through multiple small runs before eventually being updated as the Torrent II.
