The Magnum is General-Yo’s most experimental release and one of the rarest yoyos the company ever produced. Machined from magnesium and finished with nickel plating, the Magnum was one of only two production-quantity magnesium yoyos of its time (the other being the YoYoJam FH-MG). Development took over 10 months for Ernie Kaiser to master the magnesium-plus-nickel-plate machining process.
The magnesium alloy allows approximately 30% more rim mass at the same total weight compared to aluminum, pushing spin performance and stability. Only 48 units were released, making it among the rarest and most collectible General-Yo throws ever produced.
