The Freehand NextGen represents a significant modernization of the Freehand concept, pairing a polycarbonate body with an aluminum hub insert for improved bearing seat durability. Released December 15, 2018, it uses a KonKave bearing for unresponsive performance and ships with a standard die counterweight. The semi-organic step-straight profile is a design departure from previous Freehand shapes. Multiple graphic cap editions — Flying Panda, Flying Squirrel, Mongu, Throw Monkey, and “Duncan = Love” among them — made it a fan-favorite collectible as well as a serious 5A competition plastic.
