The Large “G” Genuine Duncan is one of the earliest and most historically significant yo-yo designs in the Duncan catalog, originating in the 1930s. Franklin Mint reproduced it in 1994 as the third and final entry in their collector’s subscription series of vintage Duncan yo-yos.
The reproduction features three-piece wood construction with a fixed metal axle (replacing the original’s wooden axle), glossy black finish with a day-glo orange stripe, and shiny gold foil seals — a departure from the matte gold of original seals. On originals the stripes are often imperfectly aligned with the seals; on the Franklin Mint reproduction, stripes and seals are in perfect alignment, making identification straightforward. Came with a gold-finished metal display stand matching the other two models in the series.
