History
Dell Plastics Co. of Brooklyn, New York, known for plastic toy soldiers and flowers, entered the yo-yo market in the early 1960s with the Big D line, packaged in blister cards with a 1961 copyright. Per YoYo Wiki, Dell and Royal were sued by Duncan over the word yo-yo, which appeared on Dell’s packaging but not on the yo-yos; Dell dropped the line rather than litigate. The Dell Big D Butterfly is a tenite plastic butterfly-shaped yo-yo with a metal axle and starburst response, $1.00, dated 1962 by the Museum. It shares style No. 604 with the Super Star.
