History
The Reactor is Custom Products’ entry-level mini aluminum yo-yo, first released around 1999. Billed at the time as one of the first precision-machined aluminum yo-yos available for under $20, it was described as a “miniaturized version of the Custom Axl Elite series” — sharing the concave Butterfly profile but in a significantly smaller 50 mm diameter × 26 mm width package and weighing 49 g.
The original Reactor used a fixed axle in some configurations; the museum records a 1999 specimen with fixed axle and green anodize at $25 retail. The modern Reactor sold by YoYoSam is ball-bearing equipped with a Size A bearing and Performance Rings, priced at $29.99–$34.99. Colorways include Blue, Red, Green, Purple, and Black. The yo-yo is also referenced as an AYYA 2005 competition prize edition (Exhibit #3948 in the YoYo Museum).
