History
The AXLerator (stylized AXLerator) is Custom Products’ dedicated looping yo-yo, introduced around 1999. Unlike the butterfly-shaped AXL and AXL Elite, the AXLerator uses a traditional Imperial (rounded) profile designed specifically for 2A-style looping play. Despite appearing substantial, the body is hollow — constructed from interlocking inner and outer aluminum shells — making it deceptively light and responsive.
The AXLerator originally shipped with the same tiny G-sized bearing as the rest of the Custom line; from 2008 onward it was updated to a Size A bearing. It uses the Performance Ring response system and retailed at approximately $40. The YoYo Museum records a Mint-in-Package Bronze anodized specimen from 1999, display boxed with the same packaging style as other Custom products.
