The Akita is the first signature model for Mark Mangarin, released in December 2018. Its defining engineering feature is internal steel weight rings — unlike the external rings on most bimetals — positioned to account for 34% of the total weight (22g of ~65g). The rings taper sharply toward the catch zone to maximize it to 40mm. Named after the Japanese dog breed. A limited “Ferdico Fade” colorway of 30 units was launched directly on clyw.ca; remaining colorways were YoYoExpert exclusives. Succeeded by the Akita 2025 with external steel rings and updated dimensions.
