Bunny Martin Yo-Yo

Bunny Martin Yo-Yo Folio 2885

The Bunny Martin Yo-Yo was produced by Wallace Toy Company as an endorsement model for Everett “Bunny” Martin, who won the 1951 Cheerio World Yo-Yo Championship in Toronto, defeating approximately 500 contestants from five countries in the final Cheerio world championship ever held. The yo-yo features a gold-stamped rabbit silhouette and “Martin Yo-Yo” text on the front face, with Martin’s autograph and “World Champion” lettered around the rim on the reverse. It was produced with a 1983 copyright date and remained available as late as 2016. The yo-yo may have been physically manufactured by Elfverson AB of Kalmar, Sweden — a company known for producing wooden yo-yos under contract for various North American brands including Duncan and Cheerio — and distributed under the Wallace Toy Company name.

Bunny Martin was also a chaplain for the Dallas Cowboys for 21 years and performed as a professional yo-yo, magic, and comedy entertainer for over 50 years. An example of this yo-yo is held in the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History (accession NMAH_1335677).
