History / About
Bird In Hand is a store in Chico, California, owned by Bob Malowney, which houses the National Yo-Yo Museum. Per YoYo Wiki and the Yo-Yo Museum, it sold its own line of wooden yo-yos from 1988 to about 1995, handcrafted by Steve Smith of Chico in natural, stained, painted and lacquered finishes. From 1993 the store contracted Hummingbird Yo-Yo of New York, and from 1995 its successor BC/What’s Next, to make yo-yos for the National Yo-Yo Contest.
The Model 22 is a boxy tournament-style fixed-axle yo-yo. The Museum documents a one-piece stained example and a three-piece gloss blue lacquered example.
