The Barracuda X represents the fourth major revision of Matsunaga’s signature design, taking the foundational Barracuda geometry into bi-metal territory. Constructed from 7075 high-strength aluminum with stainless steel rims for extreme rim-weight distribution, the use of 7075 alloy — rather than the more common 6061 — provides improved strength-to-weight ratio, allowing thinner walls for more precisely placed mass. Limited quantities were sold at the 2019 US National Yo-Yo Contest before wider retail release.
