History
The Bare Bones 2024 was a tribute reissue released on May 10, 2024 — approximately two months after Frank P. Difeo’s death on March 3, 2024. The release was a collaboration between Beyond YoYos, a Massachusetts yo-yo retailer with whom Frank had a close personal relationship, and the Dif-e-Yo estate.
The 2024 version is slightly larger than the original (54mm vs. 53.34mm diameter; 42.5mm vs. 41.15mm width) and updates to a standard 19mm slim pad response and Size C bearing rather than the KonKave — making it accessible to a wider modern audience while honoring the design that Dave Schulte rode to a world record in 2005. Available in Blue, Green, and Red anodize at $54.99.
