The Banshee is the model that cemented G2’s reputation as a serious competition brand. Jacob stated that it was the first time G2 committed to keeping competitive play as the number one design goal — previous models balanced competition and casual use. Four prototype versions were developed before the design was finalized. G2 increased the rim weight compared to prior models to find the right balance of stability, spin time, and agility. The initial drop debuted with solid colors in the G2 Diamond blast finish, June 12, 2016. The Banshee became a long-running design platform — the “TiShee” (Titanium Banshee) was produced in 2019 as a raw titanium version limited to 100 pieces, signed by Jacob Gross. The Banshee 22 (2022) and Banshee T52 (2025, 6061 body with titanium rims) continue the lineage. The DireWolf was produced as a larger-diameter Banshee variant in honor of the final season of Game of Thrones.
