The Hyper Papillon is a Japan-exclusive version of the Duncan Butterfly, released by Bandai in 1997 as part of the first Hyper Yo-Yo line. “Papillon” is French for butterfly, chosen for the Japanese market. The wide flared butterfly shape makes it significantly easier to land string elements compared to the looping-oriented Imperial-family models also in the lineup. As one of the earlier wide-gap yo-yos available in Japan, it introduced a generation of players to string trick play.
