The Hyper Millennium is the first yo-yo in the Hyper Yo-Yo line developed entirely by Bandai rather than being a rebrand of another manufacturer’s product. Released in Japan in October 1997 and manufactured in China, it features mirror-like metallic weight pogs inside each half, an aerodynamic profile suited for looping (including the circular “Loop the Loop” technique), and a responsive transaxle system. In 1998, a promotional lightweight variant was distributed — identically shaped but shipped without the internal weight pogs, reducing mass by approximately 6 grams. The Hyper Millennium represents Bandai’s first step toward building an original yo-yo rather than relying on licensed designs.
