The Aftershock is G2 taking the Quake and enlarging it — a trend popular in the scene at the time (CLYW’s Gnarwhal→Sasquatch, YYF’s 888→DNA). The profile is a larger Quake in every way: same scalloped catch zone, same H-shape, same stepped rim design. Reviewer Brett Grimes found the larger diameter actually suited his larger hands significantly better than the original Quake. The Aftershock remains one of his all-time favorite G2 models. The AL7 edition was produced in extremely small numbers — Sour Apple (8 total) and Blue Steel (5 total) — making them among the rarest G2 pieces.
