The 2013 World Yo-Yo Contest was a historic transition year for the sport. It marked the end of the event’s long-running tenure in Orlando under Gregory Cohen and served as the first official IYYF World Championship before the contest began rotating globally. In the 1A division, János Karancz made history by becoming the first European to win the World Title. This was also the first and only time the 1A top-three podium featured no players from Japan or the United States. Furthermore, Takeshi Matsuura secured his fifth World Title in 5A with a near-perfect score of 95.1.
