The 2012 World Yo-Yo Contest was held at the Rosen Plaza Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Hiroyuki Suzuki claimed his final 1A World Champion title, scoring 83.51 points. Japanese competitors swept many of the divisions with victories from Shu Takada (2A), Rei Iwakura (4A), and Takeshi Matsuura (5A). Hank Freeman secured the 3A title for the United States, earning an 88.65. The event also notably hosted a long sleeper world record attempt, where Simpson Wong achieved a sleep record of 30 minutes 28.30 seconds using the C3yoyodesign BTH.
