KenTech
KenTech is a micro yo-yo brand founded in 2015 by Ken Luo, a mechanical engineering student from Washington state and the 2015 PNWR (Pacific NorthWest Regional) 3A division champion. The brand launched with a single product — the Euler, a compact bimetal with stainless steel rims — that made an outsized impression for its technical performance and exceptionally low body weight. Ken’s engineering background drove a design philosophy of simple shape with maximum performance, stripping unnecessary aesthetic elements in favor of pure function.
At launch, KenTech ran an unusual “Technology For Champions” incentive program: any US National Champion who won using a KenTech yo-yo would receive $500, and any World Champion would receive $1,000. Despite the strong debut, the brand went dormant after the initial Euler run sold through, with no subsequent original releases.
In 2018, the Euler design resurfaced through a collaboration with Japanese distributor Yoku YoYo Design, distributed by Yo-Yo Store REWIND, at a more accessible $69.99 price point with multiple splash colorways. KenTech has no website or social media presence; all known products have sold through with no restocks.
