History / About
A collaboration between YoYoFactory and mowl recreating the legendary John Ando signature Protostar — originally released by YYF in 2009, it redefined what a plastic yo-yo could be and defined an era of play. The Protostar Hybrid Ti uses a hybrid structure combining polycarbonate and POM materials, leveraging expertise gained from the development of the mowl Hybrid. Three prototypes were required during development. The result combines the soft responsiveness of POM material with stability and solid feel, delivering high-precision performance with exceptional control while faithfully recreating the stunning aesthetics of the iconic original — including the body shape, central hub dome, and weight distribution.
